Facing surgery can be daunting. Planning for recovery can feel even more overwhelming.
Most of us can’t wait to leave the hospital and return to the comfort of our own home. But knowing what you will need after surgery isn’t always straightforward. Whether planned or unexpected, the idea of recovering at home can feel isolating or uncertain, even if it is the more appealing option.
We have been providing post-operative home care for nearly three decades, with a team experienced in organising and delivering the compassionate support you need to recover with comfort and dignity. Many clients are surprised at how quickly they regain strength with the right care in place.
I’m worried about getting home from the hospital. When does my care start?
The transition to home can feel like the most fragile stage of recovery. How will the ward notes be handled? Is my home ready? Who will collect me?
From your initial assessment to your return home, we take care of everything you need. Our dedicated team can accompany you safely directly after surgery, whether you are returning home or to the hotel of your choice in London. You can feel confident that the move from hospital to home will be smooth and supported. All initial assessments are overseen by a Registered Nurse so you know you’re in good hands.

What does care look like on a daily basis?
In the days and weeks after surgery, everyday tasks can be more difficult due to pain or limited movement. This period can be physically and emotionally demanding. With the support of Draycott Nursing & Care you won’t have to navigate it alone.
We’ve supported many people through recovery, and every detail of your comfort and care will be thoughtfully managed.
Here is how we help with your daily routine:
Assistance with bathing, dressing, and getting in and out of bed
Wound care, medication support, and meal preparation
Mobility assistance and gentle rehabilitation exercises
Help with shopping, transport and getting to appointments
Setting up useful tools like grab bars or raised toilet seats
Whatever you need, we’ll do our best to make life at home feel manageable while you heal. Our approach creates a calm, supported environment for you to focus on getting better.

I’m worried about managing pain. What if something goes wrong?
It’s completely normal to feel anxious about pain after surgery, especially once you’re home and no longer in a hospital setting. Our nurses and carers are highly experienced in post-operative care, including pain management and medication support.
Most importantly, they know what to look for. We keep a close eye on how you're recovering and the medication you're taking. We can adjust positioning or daily routines to help ease discomfort.
We also manage common symptoms like swelling and bruising using techniques such as ice packs, elevation, and compression garments. Everything will always be tailored to your recovery plan, with input from clinical experts when needed.
You can rest assured that we’ll spot any concerns early and respond quickly.

I’ve heard that post-operative care can speed up recovery. How do you help?
We've seen for ourselves how post-operative care can make a real difference. It's not just about avoiding complications and keeping you safe: It's also about supporting your body's healing process with trusted, evidence-based care.
Our carers work closely with your medical team to guide your recovery. This might include gentle mobility exercises, support with daily movement, and making sure you're not overdoing it too soon. We're always monitoring your progress to catch any early signs of complications so they can be addressed before they become serious.

What about the emotional side of recovery?
Recovery isn’t just physical. It’s emotional too. That’s why we’re here to help you prepare for follow-up appointments, cope with any setbacks, and anticipate everything you might need to find your feet again. It’s completely normal to feel low, frustrated or anxious after surgery. Our team is here to listen, to support, and to help you rebuild confidence so you can feel more like yourself again.
