Quanda is a cheeky and ‘heart meltingly gorgeous’ Golden Retriever (photographed at 19 weeks) and is also a trained assistance dog for Canine Partners.
Quanda has been sponsored by Angela Hamlin and all of us at Draycott Nursing and Care are huge supporters of Canine Partners.
We started raising money for the charity in 2012 and continue to hold events and a yearly Carol Service in aid of the charity.
Angela’s support of this amazing charity is a perfect fit with the care at home that we provide, along with our initiatives into supporting and educating our Nurses, Carers and the relatives of our clients.
Canine Partners train assistance dogs for people with a wide variety of physical disabilities many of whom use wheelchairs. They are currently working closely with Help for Heroes to train dogs for individuals from the Armed Forces who are wounded, injured or sick, and who need the work and companionship of these special dogs to gain greater independence in their lives. Each dog is trained specifically to suit the needs of the person they will be partnering.
“To see one of these dogs help someone get undressed, unload their washing machine, bring a smile to their face and give them a sense of purpose is a privilege”.
As a passionate dog lover and with personal experience of caring for a close relative, Angela, and her team, continue to support the charity’s fundraising activities and the wonderful work that Canine Partners and their 4 pawed marvels continue to achieve.
Anyone can support a puppy from as little as £1 a week. To find out more and read the incredible stories of the dogs and their partners. http://www.caninepartners.org.uk/
