The Carer's Cook Book
by Carolyn Peacock
Inspired by
Angela Hamlin of Draycott Nursing
Foreword by
Joanna Lumley
The idea of The Carer's Cook Book came to Angela Hamlin after she had been running Draycott Nursing for sometime. It was very soon apparent that the majority of feedback regarding a nurse or a carer was whether they could cook or not and how good they were at it.
Meals, for many reasons, were the highlight of the day. On interviewing prospective nurses and carers they were asked about their cooking skills. Many replied that they were good cooks - but on delving deeper, their range often appeared to be from sausages to stir-fry!
The initial plan was to put together a few recipes to help the carers and nurses. From there it has snowballed to what it is today. The book has been favourably received, and will not only be of help to carers and nurses but to anyone looking after someone, or even for those on their own. It has even been popular among students.
