| Job Purpose |
To implement care plans by directly providing practical, physical, social and emotional care in client’s own homes. To create a supportive atmosphere in which clients can achieve maximum independence. To follow Draycott Nursing’s policies and procedures.
To comply with health and Social Care Act 2008 (regulated activities) regulations 2010 and CQC (registration) regulations 2009. (See attached outcomes) |

| Main Activities |
The specific requirements of each assignment will vary and these will be discussed with you before you accept the assignment.
As a carer you must be sensitive and responsive to the race, culture, religion, age, disability, gender and sexuality of the client who is receiving care and their representatives. |
| Specific Duties |
You will provide care according to the client’s specific diagnosis and needs. Your duties will include:
- Communicating effectively with the client, the multi disciplinary team and Draycott Nursing
- Keeping accurate, factual written accounts of your time with the client
- Following the Draycott Nursing Assisting with Medication - Carers Policy, as outlined in the handbook
- An awareness of the client’s emotional and spiritual needs
- Observing and following the Draycott Nursing Health and Safety policy
It is the responsibility of each member of staff to prevent and control infection |
| Personal Care |
Your duties may include:
- Washing an bathing
- Use of bath aids
- Assisting the client to shave
- Mouth Care
- Assisting the client to dress and undress
- Eye care
- Pressure area care
- Catheter / Urosheath care
- Emptying of colostomy bag
- Management of incontinence
- Management of MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
including information sharing if client is transferred
- Exercise as appropriate to the client’s abilities
- Moving and handling

| Other Duties |
You may be required to perform tasks such as:
- Meal preparation
- Light household duties which may include:
- Laundry, dusting, vacuuming, tidying, bed making, keeping the refrigerator clean and ensuring the contents have not expired
- Care of pets
- Escorting clients to appointments
- Making transport arrangements
- Any other duties which may be part of a specific assignment
- Shopping – ensuring all receipts are kept

| Knowledge and Expertise |
- Professional care experience ideally in a domiciliary care setting.
- Ideally NVQ Care Level 2 or 3
|
| Essential Requirement |
- An enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau
- Satisfactory References
- Occupational Health Clearance
- Completion of Draycott Nursing Induction Training
- Mandatory training
